This month’s episode is another short ReView! What is a “ReView” episode, you might ask? Well, it’s my highly-clever (ok not really) name for episodes where I go back and revisit an older title I haven’t seen in a long time, and see if what I remember (and what my opinions on it) are still the same now that some time’s gone by. This month, I'm celebrating Animeigo's upcoming release of Osamu Dezaki's 70s beautiful tear-jerker Nobody's Boy Remi with a rewatch (and finally finishing it!) Is the trauma of this "Ruined Childhood" title worth following for over 50 episodes? It's time to find out!

Anime Nostalgia Presents: New Anime for Oldtaku – Time of Eve

I often get asked by older anime fans who haven't watched newer anime in ages if I have any suggestions on more “modern” titles I'd recommend—so here's the beginning of a new, sporadic article series that you may see pop up on the blog from time to time! I hope you enjoy it.

This episode is sponsored in part by Tokyo Treat! To get $5 your first box of delicious snacks & treats delivered from Japan straight to your door, AND to help support my little podcast, use code "NOSTALGIA" at my link here!

Earlier this month was Otakon, which celebrated it's 30th year of being "The Convention of Otaku Generation". It was also my first ever time attending! So what better time to talk about it's history with fellow podcaster and Otakon veteran, Gerald of Anime World Order! We talk about Otakon's humble beginnings and history (with some general anime con memories), and what we thought of the con now that it's ever closer to reaching "middle-age". So grab a snack and an ice-cold water, and listen in!

August 30, 2018 marks the 40th anniversary of one of the weirdest, wackiest, and most beloved series to ever come out of Japan: Rumiko Takahashi’s Urusei Yatsura! And returning guest Lynn is here to talk all about the series’ history & what made it so unique, why we still love it even all these years later, and how excited we are that Viz will be re-releasing the manga in English in 2019! Also in this episode: why Animeigo wasn’t the one to release the 2nd movie, how Takahashi’s playing with gender roles affected many readers growing up, and what Urusei Yatsura and Star Trek have in common!

Happy 2018, everyone! This month’s episode is another ReView! What is a “ReView” episode, you might ask? Well, it’s my highly-clever (ok not really) title for episodes where I go back and watch an older title I haven’t seen in a long time, and see if what I remember (and what my opinions on it) are still the same now that some time’s gone by. December marked the 30th anniversary of one of the first unedited, subtitled, officially licensed anime titles released in the US! So let’s take a closer look at 1987′s Metal Skin Panic MADOX-01.

February 25, 2017 marks the 30th anniversary of Bubblegum Crisis’ original release in Japan! So to celebrate, I’ve invited Sean of Zimmerit.moe to talk all about it: the many western influences that inspired it, why it’s label of “cyberpunk” is a bit of a misnomer, and how some aspects of it were surprisingly progressive for an 80s OAV.

2014 marks the 30th anniversary of Kimagure Orange Road...so what better time to do an episode all about this quintessential 80s romantic comedy? Join me and O-Talk Podcast's Thomas (aka ABCBTom) as we get whimsical about a series that was once an anime fan staple, starring a certain teenage Esper & the girls who love him.

A short, ReView episode this time around! What is a “ReView” episode, you might ask? Well, it’s my highly-clever (ok not really) title for episodes where I go back and watch an older title I haven’t seen in a long time, and see if what I remember (and what my opinions on it) are still the same now that time’s gone by and I’m a little older.

To celebrate Oh My Goddess!'s manga finally ending in Japan after a whopping 25-year run, I look back on the series' very first anime adaptation, the Oh My Goddess! OVA from 1993.
