The Anime Nostalgia Podcast - ep 119: ReView: Amon Saga

Subscribers! Be sure to go to the blog to read the description easier & check out links for this episode!

This month’s episode is another short ReView! What is a “ReView” episode, you might ask? Well, it’s my highly-clever (ok not really) name for episodes where I go back and revisit an older title I haven’t seen in a long time, and see if what I remember (and what my opinions on it) are still the same now that some time’s gone by. This month, I dig into a dark 80s fantasy OVA film with character designs by Yoshitaka Amano! No, it’s NOT that vampire one you’re thinking of–it’s the much lesser-known Amon Saga! Is this one worth revisiting, or does it belong stuck at the bottom of the DVD bargain bin? Let’s find out!

The Anime Nostalgia Podcast - ep 67

Subscribers! Be sure to go to the blog to read the description easier & check out links for this episode!

With yet another new Macross TV show seeming to be just around the corner, returning champion Nitro is back again to talk about one of our favorite entries in the Macross series: Macross Plus! Listen as we chat about what exactly made this series stand out from all the Macross series that came before (and after) it, and why it’s still worth watching today. Also discussed in this episode: what Bryan Cranston & David Hayter have in common, how “Roy Fokker” is a fun name to say, and what our ideal date with Sharon Apple would be.

And be sure to listen for a special announcement at the end of the episode!

The Anime Nostalgia Podcast ep 07

Just in time for Halloween, this episode is all about Ghost in the Shell!...ok, so Ghost in the Shell has little to do with Ghosts (or Shells!) But in this episode, returning guest NewtypeLady (who you might remember from my Gundam episode not too long ago) & I talk about the legacy of Masamune Shirow's 80s cyberpunk classic, and the many incarnations of it and The Major. Listen as we talk about philosophy, Mamoru Oshii's dog, and what a surprisingly great role-model Major Motoko Kusanagi is for women & cyborgs everywhere.
