It’s episode 50! And to celebrate, I’m finally tackling a MUCH requested topic--that’s right, it’s Dragon Ball! Join me & my buddy Mark from Tapes From The Crypt as we discuss the unique world Akira Toriyama created, from the classic to Super, how Dragon Ball’s release in North America was oddly similar to Sailor Moon’s, and how fan’s immense love of the series is still a force to be reckoned with.Stream the episode above or [Direct Download]

Great discussion! As someone who got into Dragon Ball when it was already readily available, it's fascinating to learn about the difficulties in finding and watching it back in the mid-90's and how early fandom was like. And thank you for answering some of my questions! I was very interested in your perspectives, and agree that it would've been cool if Launch had become a fighter instead of just disappearing, and that Chi Chi should've remained a fighter instead of becoming a stereotypical overbearing mother. There's plenty more to talk about with the series, so I can't wait for the eventual followups, maybe even one discussing the history of the video games.
ReplyDeleteThanks! So glad you enjoyed it & learned new things, too!
