The Saturday Anime series is back! These are episodes where we talk about anime that aired on the Saturday Anime block of Sci-Fi Channel back in the 90s on US Cable TV. This month, MDi is back to talk with me about a title that was once one of Pioneer Anime’s original flagship titles in the US, but has since kind of become forgotten---Green Legend Ran! Listen as we revisit this title to see if this environmental sci-fi fantasy OAV-edited-to-movie-for-Sci-Fi-Channel’s-broadcast still holds up, having to deal with the infamous WordFit System, and how this title is connected to....Snakes on a Plane??? You’ll have to listen to find out how!

With yet another new Macross TV show seeming to be just around the corner, returning champion Nitro is back again to talk about one of our favorite entries in the Macross series: Macross Plus! Listen as we chat about what exactly made this series stand out from all the Macross series that came before (and after) it, and why it’s still worth watching today. Also discussed in this episode: what Bryan Cranston & David Hayter have in common, how “Roy Fokker” is a fun name to say, and what our ideal date with Sharon Apple would be.

And be sure to listen for a special announcement at the end of the episode!

It’s been a while since I did a music-themed episode! And what better guest to have than the host of a music-themed podcast, Nitro of MDisk Playlist, to talk all about the music of Joe Hisaishi! You probably have heard Hisaishi’s work in Miyazaki’s films, but what else has this immensely talented musician done? Nitro & I talk all about it, plus go through some of our favorite tracks by him (hint: it’s nothing from the soundtracks to Techopolice or Parasite Eve.)
